Has anyone used anything other than needles to de-flate fish. I remember a system that had a weighted alligator clip but I can not find it.
Any help would be appreciated. I just do not want to use the needle concept.

That would be a Flip it clip. You can find them on Tackle warehouses site.

Needle is the only way to fizz a fish.

The flip it clip just keeps the fish upright in the livewell. The fish will still not be able to return to depth when released.

The Clip keeps the Fish upright and if you keep it in the livewell long enough............

The problem is that you cant release a fish caught from deep water imediately...... So you really need to learn to needle fizz a fish. There are several quality fizzing devices out there and Most have very good instructions.

If you are catching fish in 20-30foot You need to be fizzing them.

You can create a weighting system that allows you to sink your fish back to the depth from which it was caught, and then you release the system from the fish and retrieve the system back to the boat. Much quicker than fizzing and no punctures to the fish. But if you are in a tournament, this system won't work. I only use it when I am fun fishing and catching them deep.

I rig the system up on a marker buoy. Very quick.

If the flip clip is used will the fish eventaually release the traped air? If so about how long.
I had a couple of fish yesterday and after nursing them a couple of hours they were fine.

you need to learn to fizz, its really easy. other methods catch fishermen but anglers dont get to see the long term results...

Follow on to Squib's post:
I have mine on an old reel attached to a broken off handle. Cut the barb off of a large hook and attach the line to the bend of the hook. To the eye of the hook, attach a foot or so of line with a couple of large weights (4 oz works). Just put the hook over the fishes lip. The weights take it down easily. Usually the fish just swims off. Sometimes you have to lift up or shake the hook a bit. Works very well for me.

Yep, Dude He, that is the setup I was talking about. The only difference is I usually clip the rig to my marker buoy.
