I was on Grapevine crappie fishing yesterday. There were some oreintal people carp fishing from the bank at Meadowmere and they were pulling them in. It looked like there were 3 families there, kids, women and all. They would hoot and holler when they would get a fish on. Of course I couldn't understand what they were saying. They had 2 or 3 stringers full of big fish. It was fun watching them. The were having a blast.

Years ago I ran across a asian gentlemen that was catching carp at Joe Pool with a really cheap Zebco combo. Those fish tore that reel up. I had so fun watching him catch fish I gave him one of my fishing outfits. The guy nearly shook my hand off and I felt just as happy as he did.

One good thing about it is, they eat every single morsel of the fish. What got me mad was 2 weeks ago on the upper end at the mouth of Denton Creek there was a bow fishing rig and they would stick the carp and then chunk them back in the water. That upset me.

I think you hit this one on the head. If the people are going to eat the fish and harvest within legal limits, then good for them.....that's the whole reason carp were originally put in our waters.

But when you have....the takers...who just waste the fish and don't consider that there are people who would happily eat the fish they kill and then pollute the waters they kill out of.....well....ain't gettin' any respect from me.

Besides, carp and buffalo are plentiful in Grapevine and they are harvested less than many other fish. There will also be, in theory, more food to eat per fish with less there.

Fewer Carp = Bigger Carp.

When you go fish, would you prefer 6 eight pounders, or 3 twenty pounders?

There are only a handful of lakes that I would consider any sort of harvest limit. Yeah, it sucks that fish were taken, but they were used to feed a family; and, like it or not- the Carp Fishery on GVine was improved.

I would think it is better for the carp population that some be removed .. cause they aren't fished like the other fish..and is there any way I can hook up with someone that knows how to clean them to make fish patties cause this is the only way i have had carp and it was good ...send me a pm. and I'll meet up for some carp fishing here in the dfw area.

I'd rather eat buffalo since there is an ever bigger number of those and they grow faster.

I'm getting tired of catching buffs at gvine, they fight for like 2 minutes and then it's like reeling in a foul hooked dinner table.

I don't care that they kept some.I'm just not the sort to take more than I need.I'm all for making room for bigger catches. And I don't know that they will, but I've seen too many take fish then they sit froze until they just throw them out.
Guess I just don't like the thought of waste. Not the thought of keeping.
