Only blown heads that I have seen have been ones where the mechanics on the oil changes put a 150 hp oil filter in, instead of the required 235 or 250 hp oil filters. 2-3 mph less for more fuel efficiency and NO MORE oil to buy. I am headed that way.

Oilmans on Toledo. Yamaha brought 13 of them and Ran out. Ask Kevin Walker Or Buzz Craft. Kevin has poped 3 already.

I know of two in the Sam Rayburn area that blew the motors due to not oiling correctly-

Whatever guys... The Merc Optimax motors were blowing powerheads so fast in the early 90's they were called OptiPops. Didn't stop me from buying over a dozen of em since '93.
If my new SHO blows I will get another one and keep fishing. That's what the warranty is for.

They all blow up, Mercs, Bombs, and Yammies. I have 400 hrs on my HPDI without an issue but it could happen anyday. Anything that turns 6,000 RPMs is just waiting to explode.

I fished with a guide out of Venice Louisiana last fall that had 1,300 hours on his Yam HPDI. I have a friend with a Merc 225 that has over 1,000 on it too.

This is basically a revo vs curado debate. power pole vs talon. They are all good products, matter of preference, which mine is the SHO.

Ran a Merc for last 5 years... No issues.
Running a SHO now and have nothing but praise for it's performance.
SHO is about 2 mph slower...but is about 2 secconds faster on hole shot and has quicker response at midrange... but think about this... at top end I am loosing only 2 miles if I ran it WOT for an hour... How many times do you run WOT for a solid hour?! I likieee my new SHO!!!
