I ran across an interesting article concerning the Lowrance LSS-1 Structure Scan here:

http://www.drdepth.se/rdfour.php?l=gb

Wondering if Jason or other Lowrance gurus can shed any light on this!

I'm guessing that would be Doc Bruce Samson's work. He used Dr. Depth a lot and is always experimenting with better ways to find fish. For him it is money in the pockey as he is a professional walleye fisherman.

He has a site hi tech fishing.

I think the interesting question is will Lowrance take a look at this information and consider his solution below. Taping the transducer obviously isn't viable because it disables downscan while the tape is on the transducer:

"The obvious fix is of course to not transmit on the downscan beam when transmitting on the sidescan beams..."

Maybe Lowrance field/pro staffers can forward this info to the appropriate Lowrance folks.

Yep! I was hoping for that ---- or even better, to be advised that Lowrance is aware of the issue and is working on a solution!

Dayne,

It wasnt my idea. Per and the Lowrance engineers are way over my head. But I will use what they teach me to catch more fish! I just bought the tape today to test it. My wife was wondering I wanted sticky foam tape.
