I'm getting a Humminbird 898 c SI. I also ordered the appropriate Ram mount, Transducer Sheild and Saver TM-HDsi mount for the trolling motor and 20' ehternet cable to connect with the 898c SI at the console. I'm pretty handy at installing things and have rigged out a quite a few police vehicles with lights, siren, radio, video, radar, etc. so it shouldn't be too hard. I'm just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks that I should know about? It should be pretty straight forward. The boat is a Triton 21X2. Thanks in advance.

It is pretty straight forward. Be sure once installed slow your chart speed to between 1-3 for better images.

It's pretty simple...Hook the Power Cord (I recommend direct to the battery), Install the GPS and Transducer... but here are a few tips.

Video Clip I did it was 798c on Bow but similar install: http://youtu.be/rMyAJ3fkuCI

Run your power cord like this on the Trolling Motor:

This will make it easier and reduce RF Noise from getting in the Sonar System.

ANy Questions let me know!

Make sure your power is protected with a in-line fuse. Run your ducer cable on the back side of the t/m shaft that way if you hit something the cable will be protected.

You have to run the transducer cable on the side of the shaft on a fortrex it has a fork on the bracket when it is stowed that keeps it centered on the bracket and will mess up the cable.

Ditto on all the above. Definitely slow speed to 1 mph. You will wonder shortly why you have fished without it.
