I've heard they are like a 4 stroke race dirtbike... they are made to run wide open or else they will have problems.....They are meant to have their "legs stretched" everytime out on the water and too many people launch close to their fishing holes and never run them wide open like they should... Again, this is what I heard....Knowing how dirt bikes are, this makes sense... Yamaha was the first on the dirt bike scene with a winning 4 stroke..

Nate, what are the obvious reasons?
Just curious.

Every motor has problems, people always seem to like to pick on the new ones but you always hear of the "negative things", I hear the same things with evinrude and mercury.

Don't ever buy the "latest and greatest" the first year or two.....every brand goes through those first year trail and errors!

Why wait? If they are blowing up as you say your friends are, they are under warranty and you'll get a new one anyway. I know dozens of people running them and aside from them making a little oil, I have not heard of any blowing up. Everyone has been extremely impressed with them thus far. They are still tweaking them, so I guess having to take them back to the dealer for the updates is the only negative thus far.

The company we sell for is based in Japan, they werent affected with MFG. The shipping aspect is slow, as expected with a disaster. I havent read about the Yamaha plant being affected. Do you have a link, Nate?

Because it's inconvenient to have to take something in for warranty repair?
