it's only been there about 3 years coach. Jeff is the owner. He's gotten a lot of tackle in for me on special order.

I like East Texas Sonar in Longview. They have a great selection of soft plastics.

Pretty fortunate here at Rayburn, there are three shops, Tackle Monkey, Ann's, and Needmore. Only time I order online is when I can't find a specific bait in one of the local shops.

East Texas Sonar is a great place, very friendly and helpful. I used to pass thru Jasper and stop by Ann's Tackle Shop when I worked in Sabine, she always had a great selection of baits. Plus she always had good advice on were the fish were and what they were biting on!

man i used to love Barlow's, wander around during lunch , but the internet is so far advanced... you can wander with your eyes and there a more colors sizes varieties etc.
I miss the adrenaline rush of walking into Barlows to make a bigger purchase like a rod or reel. they all come via tackle warehouse now... but barlows will tell you 90% of their sales are internaet based now, they wouldnt be in business without it.

Used to really enjoy hanging out at AAA Fiberglass and Tackle in Grand Prairie. Believe Alan Dunn owned the shop back then. Wonder what happened to him?

In the last 10 years Mo & Joes Tackle has closed their doors, and Macks Discount Tackle in Lindale closed his doors just this last December.
Local tackle stores are being assaulted on just about every front. Ten years ago there was no Wal-Mart in Lindale, no Academy in either Tyler, or Longview, and no Gander Mountain in Tyler. All of these drew business away from Macks. The internet is also a BIG reason that local tackle shops are having a hard go of it.

Brick and mortars are a thing of the past due to big box and Internet....regardless, love walking into tackle shops and browsing. There's a vibe u get that none of the big boxes can create. The friendly atmosphere is second to none....Try these: Olsen's Pro-Am, Anglers Pro Tackle, Texas Outdoors and Brazos Bait and Tackle.
