Anyone have any luck with crappie from the bank on Hubbard? Just wondering since its so close to the office. Id love to find some after work from time to time.

Think most are finished with the spawn by now, litle late this time of the year from bank. May be able to try the marinas a bit deeper water there on the fishing docks so possibly in there before they move out till the winter. Also try some of the local city lakes never fished them but most small lakes you can usually catch crappie from the bank at night in them during the summer once you find them and as long as they have a decent population of them.

I was getting bait at Cedar Creek off of 75 coming from Dallas , the first couple bridges as you hit the lake. I threw my net out about 5 feet and pull 1 crappy on each throw, nice size too. So, I guess in that area they are still in the shallow.

Marina's or fishing barges are going to be your best bet. Most have moved out deeper.

From the bank I have had good luck with Crappie Thunder type jigs. Not sure if it's the spinner or the color but crappie love them. Plus you can throw them a good distance with a lightweight rod/reel. I keep my rod tip high so the fish will see it above them.

at Fort Phantom I've had pretty good luck fishing crappie from the bank using chart/black road runner jigs. I tend to catch more when I wade out about waist deep, but my point is that you can catch plenty from the bank if you find a good spot. if you aren't afraid to get a little wet then I'm sure you can catch plenty of fish

I believe the lakes out in west texas warm slower. The fish around here have already done their thing shallow.

You might try the two jetties on the Rowlett side of hwy 66. Out toward the middle to the ends, the water is 12 to 14 feet deep. Use a 10 or 12 foot crappie pole and fish about 10 feet out from the edge of the chunk concrete. It's a good place to pick up some yellow bass too. Minnows or black/char jigs (1/16 or 1/32 oz) work well. Fish down 6 to 8 feet deep.

Would love to find a pond in the Dallas area with crappie , Ive check the Texas lake stocking info but its been forever since theyve stocked crappie ..anyone know of a nice small /average size pond that they know holds crappie ? I would be bank fishing which I know right now probably wont work but would still like to get to know the pond for later when they are catchable.
