Just about every week I have somebody from the forum email me, wanting me to go out fishing with them so that I can show them some good spots around the CC area so that they can enjoy their trip by catching fish. I love to fish, and am usually going out anyway, so I always accept. I enjoy it as much as they do because I like to put people on fish and its good practice for guideing. However, when people make plans with me I expect them to stick by them or at least let me know if they are backing out. Today, I woke up at 4 am and drove 30 minutes to the spot were I was to meet a couple of guys. When I called to let them know I was there, I woke them up. They then told me to give them 1 1/2 hrs because they overslept. That really pissed me off. I have better things to do then sit around in some dark place waiting for people who should have already been there. I told them to forget it and drove home feeling flaked on. If you want to fish then lets fish but dont tell me to wake up at the crack of dawn and then not show. There is no excuse unless you are going to pay me for my gas and time.

No kidding pards, that's pretty aggravating to wait on someone who'll probably pot lick you anyway.

I hope they drove a long way to act like a butt.

The funny thing is, is that I would have showed them some really good places that a guide would have charged them lots of money for. Also, why would you come down all this way to sleep in if your a fisherman. I know that when I take trips there is no way in hell that I would sleep in for fear of missing the morning bite. Thats why you go and I dont care how late you partied till the night before. But thats just me.

Most of the people here who know me know I'm hard core. Get up, gone before day light, and running lights back to harbor. Grind it out till the box is full.

I had plenty of guys when I had my camp at mansfield after a day of fishing your guts out cried foul. And this would be after catching our 30 trout/9 reds/75 flounder, but couldn't justify the effort required.

90% of people fish for convenience, the rest are actually trying to catch something.

TK, if you told me to meet you somewhere so YOU could show me some new places to fish, I'd be at the appointed spot before you. My buddies think I'm nuts, but I never want someone waiting on me. Usually I'm asleep in my car when they roll up. You have a right to be pissed.

Not much worse than being Flaked on...my drunk friends frequently flake on me, however 2 of the 3 live within 5miles of me so I go to their houses and beat the door down, becuase since I'm up they will be too. I've learned to call b4 I leave the house to make sure they are all up & on time.

Many times my fishing partner sleeps in the morning of our bass tournements. It would piss me off so bad. I have the boat, I got up early to fill it up with gas and fill the ice chests and so on. I have to wake up an hour earlier that him just to get everything ready and when I get to his house he is still asleep. Needless to say he doesn't fish to many tourneys with me anymore.

Hey troutkiller I completely understand, I would have had a few choice words with them. Its bad when people come into town all pumped up to fish & then you find out that those folks arent even fishermen, they are just partiers who like to fish on occasion. I'll be heading down that way sometime in the beginning of Sept. & I just may look you up. Dont worry about me, I'll be in my yak on the water waiting on you to hand me the gaff because I'm already hooked up with a TARPON!

last time i got stuck like that, me and my roommate made the three and a half hour drive from college station home to get gear, then were going to rolloiver to wade and fish the cut. The friend wholld called me wanting to go decides his girlfriend feels bad, and hes not going to bother. I was o pissed i couldnt see strait. We finaly got down there, nobody was catching jack(water was nasty, even the guys in the surf were coming up empty). If you commit to someone jsut show up!

I am trying to plan on heading down that way the first weekend in October to meet up with PiePuncher. JB will more than likely be with me as well. JB and I are also planning a trip down that way in the near future Troutkiller, so get ready.

Man, I dont know. Last time Punch was coming down he got me real pumped up to go offshore since I hardly ever go. He called me as he was driving and I got ready only to not hear from him again. He called me as he was headed back up to tell me how many fish he caught. I was like, Gee thanks. I caught fish on my own but was looking forward to meeting and fishing with him. It was kind of a bummer. However, I look forward to trying to make it work this time and would like to meet yall as well. Its nice to put a face with a name. Email me and we can get phone numbers. Later.
