When out to Trinity last weekend and got our fair share of specks, 15-24", 27" red, few drum and pleanty of sandies. Started off early from the dike til mid afternoon drifting slicks and working under birds. Good times and good luck.

Thanks garduck for asking the question . Made a trip this past wensday to Smith point for the first time in my life . It is an hour and a half drive from where I live . The bay looks like one big oyster reef . The water looked clear by Southeast Texas standards and an ideal place for reds and specks . Looks like a place you would need a guide or local fisherman that knows the area if you plan on useing a boat . That water is very shallow . Watched an oyster boat motoring by the public boat ramp with inboard diesels . There has to be deep water channels running through the reefs .
