Just seen the 2011 Texas fish and game atlas and on the amistad map there is a warning.....they strongly urge fishermen to stay out of Mexican waters on amistad!
Do they know something we don't? I've never had any problems in Mexico on amistad and have not heard of any. What is the deal?

Was just at Amistad. There is nothing going on down there. One of the guys in our club fished Mexico in practice and had no problems.

Nowdays any place on the border should be considered possibly dangerous. Drug cartels have a shoot first mentality.

We all stumble and make mistakes. When you stumble, do you want your brother to help knock you down or to help set you back on your feet?

As I understand it the Gulf Cartel control from basically Falcon Lake South down to the valley and the Zetas control from Falcon Lake North/West. That's why there is so much going on at Falcon as that is where their territories meet....

I would re-think fishing in Mexico at Amistad at this time if there is a warning.

My wife and I have not stopped fishing Falcon Lake since the trouble began; however, with very few exceptions and now exclusively we are fishing the US side only.... We fish Falcon Lake 2-3 weekends a month... We miss the other lakes; however, the fishing is absolutely too good to go any where else as far as we are concerned,...

I understand Tule and Burro should also be avoided. The best bet is to stay in the Devils above Rough Canyon.
