I have been looking for a place to buy in the Galveston Area and am very interested in Sea Isle on the West end of Galveston island. Does anyone live in that area and/or know the fishing in the bay. I have a boat, and also wonder about going thru San Luis pass to the Gulf. Is that possible with 32" draft? How else would I get to the Gulf easily?

That is a big power boat or is it a sailboat?

There is a cut from west bay through the pass but it is always changing.

I used to use it quite often back in the early 90's but, I tried to go from the mouth of cold pass up toward chocolate bayou the other day and couldn't find a way through. I am sure there is one there, but where is a mystery to me at the moment.

I rented a place on the beach in Sea Isle in September and went out of San Luis Pass. There is a channel out to San Luis Pass from West Bay and it was not that difficult to follow with a little direction. I don't think it got any shallower than about 5 feet at that time. There are a lot a big center consoles and walk arounds berthed at the marina at Sea isle so I would expect they access the gulf through San Luis Pass.

You will also want someone experienced to lead you out of the pass the first time (or better yet, lead you back in!)

The restaurant at the marina has really great food.
