Am I the only one who reads this section first? I would really like to see more reports and discussion on this part of the board. It does not help when the admin. of the site posts his saltwater reports and trip info in the freshwater section. What do you think?? Good luck to all MO

I also check it all of the time, but haven't been fishing much. I'm puttering with my "new" 16 Carolina Skiff to get her in my kind of shape. I'm selling my 14 CS, so I am just a boat fixer these days. I'll post the next time I get out. However, my usual winter saltwater posts are "good fishing. no catching". RichG

I really don't know where most of TFF users are located, but I'd bet it's not on the coast. Most of us that post on here (salt section) spend a bunch of time at the beach and do our best to keep each other updated. Hopefully in time this section will be as busy as the freshwater one...I know for a fact that it's used more than when I first logged on a few years ago. Hope everyone has a Happy New Fishing Year!! <*{{{><

boboloo1, hope you had a nice Christmas and Happy New Year. I still think of our trip to Louisiana with BastropMan1. Hopefully, we can get together again this year somewhere on the coast. See ya.

yeah, I only wish I had something to post on this section, but since I live 8-1/2 hours away from the coast I don't get to often. Guys like me probably don't get down there much this time of year - for a lot of reasons. But this section gets pretty busy I bet come springtime.

I have never posted but read the saltwater area FIRST all the time. I live in sw Okla. and only get to S.Padre or PA once a year. However, I look forward to it every day of the year when I'm not there. I have a new 19' bay boat that has never seen saltwater and I am counting the days before can put it in. I have fished the PA area since 1972 but don't have much knowledge about where to go with a boat when I get down there so I really appreciate all the info I get from this board.....John

I always come to this section first...every day over Christmas I've been lurking around here once or twice. I tend to agree that folks just don't have much to write about in terms of recent fishing tales. Personally, I've been bass fishing a few times over the last couple of weeks with pretty good success, but alas, no salt.
I am planning a Venice yellowfin trip for January or February. I've just started talking to some of the guides I've found on the web. I'd like to hear any recommendations...Mo? Grescobia? Do you recommend particular guides in Venice? Three of us plan to go the charter route. We're actually not hung up on the timing, either, and we'd be willing to go 48 hrs...I'd like to hear thoughts on the best possible scenario to catch 'em....Thanks, guys.
ps- I know I gotta go back and read all the previous posts on this.

Did someone mention Tuna????? Yep, it's slow right know, been busy hunting and will be until the 18th or if I finally find a buck I will take.......Need to look at the new and full moon dates for april and may to see about walking the rocks in Port Aransas for reds........also going to work the rocks for trout with piggies and croaker after seeing that monster with rogue..........debating whether to buy waders and do some cold water fishing, also need to research the Oso Bay for fishing for the booklet I'm doing, if I ever get to it......Lets see, I need to book a captain for an October tuna trip(private), also, wonder if anyone is interested in Tres Tuna?......mud is the key right now for fishing, cold weather will soon be gone and life will be good again..........SkeeterR, researching and looking for a rod, and looking for a great deal on a TLD 20, got plenty of time right now, but if your buddy can get the discount, I'd be very interested......FL, I've fished the P.A area a time or two and can at least tell where the water is, if I can help just ask........B1 is by far the best for overall PA info, I think he kind of likes going there.....Walleye for what's it worth try a new moon, folks swear by it for tuna. As for Venice, expect a crowd on the water.

walleye---im sure mo will come back with plenty of info on who to charter if going out for tuna. you mention guides ,is that for specks and reds ? I can probably get you some good prospects as fellows from work go to venus frequently and know some good guides.

New to this site, but I do live within 20 minutes from the salt, only offshore fish a couple times a year but fish the bays and marshes pretty much year round if I'm not hunt'n. West Galveston bay {north side} has been pretty good for trout and redfish before the front moved through yesterday, gonna have to wait a few days before I get out again,I will post how we do after the next trip.

Thanks for all the replys-- I hate to log on to TTF and find no news to read on the saltwater board. Walleye--- If you are going to fish venice this year, dont wait too long to book, I understand some of the better known operations are allready completely booked for weekends and weekdays are filling fast. The action on the lump has started. ( see rodnreel.com ) My trip is set for monday the 26th with Capt. Scott Avizano. I have 3 anglers committed and 3 on the will call list. I don't expect anybody to back out , but we will see what happens. According to everyone I have talked to, weekdays are much better due to fewer boats on the lump. Fridays are almost as crowded as weekends. Good luck MO

Looks like there are plenty of lurkers in the saltwater section that you brought out of the woodwork! I do a fair share of lurking too.
Glad ya'll enjoyed the trip HC! I'm always thinking about that trip. I didn't get to go back as much as I wanted to because of several major medical incidents in my household, but hope to rectify that this year. Our September trips produced a fair number of reds-wish ya'll had been there! Also, I got very little serious responders to posts for trips. Some that expressed interest disappeared once the deposit issue came up. Maybe you guys can let these folks know that their money is safe when I start posting this summer. Some other's thought the trip was too pricey, although I know there is nothing comparable for the price in that area. I don't make any money on these trips, I just try to defray my costs a little so I can get down there more often. I try to run a first class trip with the best accomodations, the best food the best guides and the best price in an all inclusive package. Unfortunately, a first class trip is not as cheap as staying in a Motel 6 and eating hamburgers, but I think the overall experience is well worth the price difference. What do you think? On our last trip, one guy won about $800 in our 2 hour excursion to the casino!
Anyway-You'll certainly know as soon as I set up some dates. I am not running any more August trips-too unpredictable and I really get frustrated with the ladyfish. The trips will be September through early October to have our best chances at good mixed bags of trout and reds.
Would you guys be interested if I set up a first class trip to the Rockport area earlier in the summer? Similar deal in that you show up, relax, eat, drink and be merry in the evening and fish during the day.

I am new to this forum, very new, actually I registered today. I will continue to check this section every couple of days. I fish a lot of salt water and mostly from Baffin bay to Matagorda. I am just about finished up with duck season, so the boat is standing by for some tight line action.
