That is a ridiculous rule. Sorry for your luck. I would like to go one step further and say that wearing a kill switch while idling is another ch*cken sh*t rule. I fully understand when on plane. I had to withdraw a $1,200 fish several years back at McDonalds because I idled about fifty yards to the other side of a point w/o the kill switch attached. Stupid, honest me. Live and learn.

So sorry to hear about Your bad luck. Given the circumstances I can see how many people could have made the same mistake. Maybe this is something they will take a look at? Congrats on your catch. That's a nice fish on any lake any day.

Be careful if you hook your motor cables directly to your trolling motor batteries. I got my boat started that way, but burnt up my stator in the process.

I was in the boat with Tom, it was quite comical. Over in the boat, 15 min. no problem, boat won't start, now we got problems!!! The guys in the Ranger that took Tom in were a class act, thanks again. It got real funny when I tried hooking his leads to the trolling motor batteries & set that loud a.. alarm off. Oh, even better, about that time while the trolling motor is disconnected the rope comes loose from the stump. Fun times!!! Finally had somes friends come out & jump boat off & got to Fork marina about 3:40 & heard the news. Oh well, at least it was just hourly check. Conversations got real good later that night after several beers. Had a blast hanging out with Tom this weekend, looking foward to next year.

Good rule, bad rule, it's the rules...With that being said, my hats to you sir, takes a big man to come on here in this format and OWN your mistake...Well done bud, it ABSOLUTELY sucks the way it worked out, but it does make for a HELL of a story!

Nice Job, on the fish and taking ownership of what happened! You ought to have a replica made of the fish with some of the post and notes from the event...Will certainly make for some interesting conversation in future!

Hate to here of your luck. Is there a rule about someone bringing you in if your boat breaks down. We have done for others in tournaments to get their fish to weigh-in when their big motor broke down.

How you got there to the scales seems of little importance if you caught it legal and you did- tough call

Had boat problems two weeks ago and was worried I would get stranded down lake. Call TD and confirmed that I could do what you did with no DQ. As it turned out, boat held together until the end of the day so it was a moot issue but at least I have clarification for later dates if necc.
