Anybody been doing any good on lines? I put some out on palestine the past 3 weekends. Did pretty good the first weekend but havent caught many the past 2 weekends! Plus somebody stole some of my jugs.... I have been using shad and perch(used liver also cuz i ran out of live bait) but only catching bass! Any help? And having a hard time getting on shad! When i do find them i get 1-5 per throw hammer Any advice or direction as to not waste a tank of fuel every weekend would be appriciated!

If'n somebody has been stealing your jugs, also possible that they have been helping you fish, by removing them before you get them.

We are gearing up for this coming weekend top hit the Blues really good, as we have Trotlines & Jugs out. Had one 27#,11 oz Blue on one jug Sunday. Talk about fiesty, it just would not find it's way into the dipnet. Got me wet, then got my uncle wet when he put him in the 55 (or is it 50) gallon tub in the back of the boat. We've been using perch & goldfish.

Yea, i thought about that too. Had a few hook straightened out(4/0) and some jugs wrapped up so i know they had fish on them, just didnt know if the fish had just pulled off or if some azzclown got them off for me!

I set some jugs out at Lavon and I use fresh cut buffalo fish on my lines. Im not very good at throwing the net for live shad so I go to the market and get a buffalo filet and cut it up and use that. I had 5 jugs set out and the first one I checked had a 32lb and a 28lb on the same jug...1st 2 hooks. Had some smaller ones on the other jugs in deeper water. I try and use atleast 6/0 or 7/0 hooks just incase a big one gets on.

welcome aboard west
neighbors jugged at tawak this weekend and cleaned up using shad

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Thanks guys! Guess I can go shoot a buff and try that. Going to try it again this weekend. I have tried water from 10-35 foot. May need to go shallower?

Gotta set them out late and check them early or some early morning bass angler is gonna liberate them for ya.

(no offense to bass anglers, I know you are not all theives, its just that is the only people out there early in the morning on my lake so I know if I find something that looks like its been tampered with...)

I was baiting them right at dark and checking them about 7 am. They better hope their boat runs more than 55 if I see them doing it. I don't like thieves!

Put a little piece of reflective tape on the jugs and check them right before sun up. That is what I do to make sure nobody is tampering with them. I've noticed that when I don't get out there until around 7 (like this last weekend cause I had to get a brisket started on the smoker to be ready by late lunch) I don't catch nearly as many fish as I do when I'm the first one at the boat ramp...

I may just start using trotlines so people can't see them.

I ran some the first weekend in May and did very well on LOP in shallow water. Shad were caught shallow in hydrilla flats. I was running my jugs every hour or so during the mid afternoon/evening. Had alot of cleaned hooks.

As an alternative to the high priced reflective tape I put some of the chrome duck tape. May not shine as well, but cheaper!
