What do you guys use to get punch bait to stay on the hook better? I was using DK and u couldn't get that stuff off but now switched to CJs but it just doesn't stay on as good. I have heard a few things to do, add hair, tear up paper towels..... I did a search and couldn't find any info on this so let's hear it!

Apparently we all need to stop being "sissys" when we use punch bait. The non-sissy way is to put on some rubber gloves and use our fingers to put the stuff on the treble hook, and not use a stick.
This is what someone said in response to me explaining what punch bait was to another member in the Ponds section.
In response to your question, i have only added crushed up cattails to thicken up sureshot before. Ive never added anything to CJ's, it usually stays pretty thick.

Get a 1 1/2 inch aluminum bar 3/16 thick push your bait down into the bait using a #6 or 8 treble hook, pack the bait around it, hold the paddle pressing the hook And bait between the side of the can, pull out the hook at an angle it should stay on real well

I use pliers to put the bait on, it just doesn't seem to stay on the hook if I cast very far or a small fish keeps bumping it.

well from my personal experience, these type of baits are only good for 20 minutes or so then its rebait time. If you put it out 2-3 times with no bites, then there is prob no cats around.

Me and my gf caught about 20 fish in 2 hrs the other day so it's not that there aren't fish where I am at, the bait just doesn't stay on very well!

Cat tails works for me. I keep 2 buckets with me, one on ice while I use the other one then swap them when the oils start to seperate to much. My bucket of Sure Shot get pretty soupy because I always put my left-over Shad in them. My experience with Sure Shot has been, If you not getting any hits, you need to move. Oh, don't use your hands if you chew tobacco.
