Going to lavon for a few hours in the morning. What's the best ramp on the west side of the lake? Did y'all leave any fish for me out there?

Clear Lake is closed now due to septic issues. I would try Tiki. They have a courtesy dock that is still in about 3-4 feet of water.

They are doing a major upgrade on the sewer system that handles the baths and RV spaces. It will be Sept before they open. I was out yesterday and talked to them. They are working on the ramp while everything is shut down also.

I looked at the ramp yesterday at Tickey Park and was going to put in but the 3 footers were breaking at the ramp. Left and went to Lewisville. Fished 3 hours for 3 fish and went home. Wind sucks. 5MPH my arse! bang

Bad info there. Park should be open within the next week to ten days. Only work being done is on the septic system. Will be extremely nice when opened back up. Prettiest park on the lake!!!!

I sat and visited with the minister at the guard house for 30 minutes last weekend. Perhaps I heard wrong.

I was about to store my boat in a friends shop 2 blocks away from the park and walked away from the offer because of the conversation. I went there specifically to ask when it would open.

I just ( at the time of this posting )called and got sent to the Lavon (COE link) site. This was what I remembered the gate attendant said was promised, but things were not looking good.

Facility Closure Report:

East Fork Park - closed due to construction. The marina will remain open.

Clearlake Park - Due to septic system construction projects, Clearlake Park will not open the 1st of April, 2011. All reservations will be refunded and we apologize for the inconvenience, but truly believe the final product will warrant the wait. At this time we do not know when it will open, but hope to have it open before 4th of July. Keep your fingers crossed. The boat ramps will also be closed until the park reopens. Thank you for your patience.

Lavonia Park - First Come First Serve Basis Only. No reservations can be made at this time.

Due to road contstruction Pebble Beach Park & Little Ridge Park will remain closed until further notice.

Caddo Park is closed due to construction.

It is tough for campers but end result should be worth it. Around Lavon it has been sad to see broken down courtesy docks, buoys missing and floating away and potholed roads. Some of the various docks have floated way up the lake with the south wind or are stuck on the shore somewhere.
I guess my $35 annual pass isn't enough to pay for all those repairs. :-)

P.S. Tickey creek ramp is the West shore of the east arm and is OK to launch with high south wind because it is on the north side of the point. If you want the west arm, try Collin or Brockdale. Both those ramps are bad with high south wind. East Fork on the south end is a safer ramp to launch in any wind, but I see on COE website it is closed for repairs.
Link to COE map with ramps.

I got a call back from one of the Corps guys and he told me that he was just told the park reservation line is now taking reservations for JUNE 2 right now. That is for park use and they do not know of the ramp will be open, but I can't imagine them opening the park up and not the ramp.

I may put my boat near there after all.

Thanks for the wake-up POKES79, I wouldn't have even looked back there otherwise.

Just moved from Frisco to Murphy and am used to fishing Ray Bob and Lewisville where most of the boat ramps have courtesy docks.

Have not found a ramp on Lavon yet with a dock at the ramp. Brockdale does not have a dock at all.

I have a 4 year old that likes to go fishing with me and having a dock makes it much easier.

I looked at the COE map, but does not show if a ramp has a dock or not.

Any guidance on what boat ramps have courtesy docks would be great and save me the trouble of driving around the lake to check them all out. Tried looking at them with Google Earth, but can't quite get the resolution to make out if the ramps have docks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and save me time and gas.

Thanks in advance.

Collin Park, but it's private/fee. Not sure what they charge.
Avalon has a courtesy dock.
East Fork does but I hear it's closed right now. Ditto for Clear Lake.
Lavonia has one.
Tickey Creek has one.
Mallard has one.
Little Ridge has one.
I think thats all.

Thanks Anthony. Very much appreciated. I have been to Collin a couple of times. They charge $6. I think Avalon will the be the closest ramp to my home with a dock. Hopefully, the wind will cooperate next weekend and I can take my little fisherman out.
