What happened to the Lavon date I saw earlier? Nothing in the home state of Texas this year?

I told my boss I wouldn't be in today, I got my arm in a cast!!!

Hugo has some huge crappie in it. I hope the lake goes down before then or it will be tough.

Yep!
Also, plan on $50 entry fee per person (instead of boat) $55 OK license (or $35 for 6 day) and $100+ in gas round trip. $200 chance to fish a lake that is 9 feet high.
Just sayin...
Yep, come back to Texas. :-)

Don't turn this into a Rag on Wally post.

We owe him more respect than that for what he's
done for the sport.

Those are just part of tourney fishin'.
It's your choice to go for it and I would but too many
conflicts in such short notice. More time would bring in
more teams too.

Wally surely went to a lot of trouble getting this off the ground, ESPECIALLY with new sponsors. High water or not....there still is will be a winner!!! Might not be the biggest stringer of all time, someone will catch fish. Hugo is a beautiful lake and it has a lot of potential!!!

Don't turn this into a Rag on Wally post.

No problem...
I agree, the local boy done good and brought us out from being 2nd (or 3rd) class citizens.

I was just whinin'. :-(
When I started adding it all up.
Last year we had one on my home lake (Lavon) and I could spend $25 and drive 25 minutes. :-) That's a lot easier sell to the wifey and for a rookie like me.
Wah! LOL

I was just trying to discourage every one else from going...
So I can win! But that's just selfish.

Wally was out fishing Lavon a week or so ago and told me he is doing a lot of advertisement and hoping for 400 boats. He was also hawking some new rods and showed me the prototype he was using. (Always the salesman.) :-)

Really, if you have the cash and time, I agree, go support him. He always puts on fun events and he has a lot of local support up there.
Lake level is dropping like a rock... a foot a day. Just sayin'... :-)

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

The lake was brutal Saturday morning (but not quite as brutal as the 3 hour weigh-in). Big fish was a 2.01.

We had a fish that would have won 3rd in the 1 PM weigh-in but it was such an average fish for this great lake we didn't even take it in. Won't make that mistake again!

It worked, I won. :-)
My new best friend.

As Barnez mentioned it was brutal fishing in ~30mph winds. A lot of pound and a half fish were in the money. We could not get out to the deep timber.
I managed to swing a 2 pounder out of thick buck brush and took big fish.

Everybody's a winner at Wally's tourney. There must have been 90 kids there all getting free stuff and maybe 50 adult entries. Wally said it was the biggest tournament he has had in all ten years.

Really, no big surprise here. One of CAT's own, Tim Smith (TFF TEX EXP), CAT member from the beginning, took big fish for the tournament.

Tim's right, there were a lot of junior anglers at Mr. Crappie's tournament and having lots of fun. View pictures at Mr. Crappie's Hugo, OK Crappie Tournament - a great success!!!

Way to go Tim and thank you for being an active supportive CAT member.

And congratulations to Wally for another great tournament.

Just tested the link. Works when I click it. But here's the actual address: http://www.flickr.com/photos/g2pix/sets/72157618273163851/show/

If you're still having trouble just go to www.mrcrappie.com and you will find it.

You're right, it is 2009. I guess Hugo has not been added yet. My bad; I didn't see the tab was "2009".
