I have been busy mapping the old lake. Here are a sample of the data around the intake. I am amazed at looking at the bottom of Granger in 3D. The ISO lines are awesome. You can see from the ISO map, one could very easy create their own maps. I have not mastered the Sidescan mosaic. The SS mosaic really holds awesome potential. I am also learning how to overlay the maps with Google Earth. Lots of learning...

If you see me on the lake, I am not trying to get your honey hole... Just enjoying mapping the lake!

Like Doc says... "for those whom wishes to take it to the next level"... If you have the equipment, time and gas... why not? I have been putting off purchasing the software for a few years. But with the SideScan tech recently added, I couldn't wait any longer.... The software will work with Hummin<g>birds :), Garmin and others...

There is nothing better for me to see results like above. Yea, it's takes time but for me it's well worth it.

Wow, thats neat, but for those without sonar, you can just get the contours the Texas Water Development Board generated just a couple of years ago. See Link

NOTE: You can get maps with older USGS contours from before the lake was filled. These are useless, lots of sedimentation has filled in the old creek lines, and softened the existing contours.

So, where are the whites hanging out at Granger these days? I ran my graph over all the usual humps and points on Sunday and found nada! zip!

I use Dr-Depth with my HB side-imaging data and create detailed 3-d maps for several non fishing disciplines as well as the obvious.

A good friend and partner (obviously a far better programmer than myself) developed his own software 10 years ago to assign color to individual pixels determined by the relative angle of the adjoining data. He produces colorized 3-d ski maps that let you know what kind of incline/slope is in front of you or around the corner. Keeps you out of trouble or gets you into whatever you want.

I finally got him interested in fishing last year and am anxious to see where it goes.

We have been playing with (developing) an iPhone app for displaying the lake bottom similar to this also. Our general fishing app is almost ready for release and the colorized 3-d map conversion will probably just be an upgrade for it later.
