Well I'm I'n Illinois visiting the I'n laws had to get away so I found some ponds that looked good and I caught this weird looking fish around 20 lbs and 3 1/2 to 4 foot long. Here's the pic.

Looks like an Asian carp

I only recently moved down here from Illinois were ive lived my entire life, and never have i seen a fish that looked like that. Looks happy though

Yup, asian carp though and through.....kill it and leave if for the critters. It's considered an invasive specie.

Big time problem up there right now.. just Google Asian carp Mississippi river and you will see the problems..

Definitely an Asian bighead carp...unusual to catch them on a hook and line, though, they are most often bow hunted.
Actually, they are quite good to eat. Search Asian carp or bighead carp on the web, and you'll find good cooking tips. Also, some pressure can them to make 'Kentucky tuna', to use like canned tuna.

There's places up north that carp them up and serve them in restaurants too, doing their part to help thin the numbers. They have folks go out and net them and stuff, then sell them straight to the restaurant. They serve them up as a special and sell out every day.

Think I saw that on both the internet, and on discovery channel or travel or one of those channels.

From what I've seen, in places where they are in the rivers, you'd be hard-pressed NOT to catch 'em. Can hardly go down the river without the danged things jumping right into your boat. A number of boaters have to have protective nets on the front of the boat to protect themselves from the fish and it's not uncommon for people to get hurt or even knocked overboard from one of these crazy fish slamming into you!

One of the few fish in states where they've taken over that I think it would be a good idea to allow harvesting with a net.

This is Asian Bighead Carp. Asians eat them mainly for the head; The meat has too many bones. The head is the best, yes, better than any fish meat. What a waste that i can't get one here in dfw.
