lately, every keeper fish i've caught has been female and with egg sacks. they seem to not be as stuffed as they were last month when i was catching them shallow. these have just shown up on brush piles at 10-12 feet. is it possible that crappie can spawn some of their eggs and resorb the rest? i have yet to catch any females without eggs. since the spawn started last month, surely some of the post spawn females would be on the piles by now.

Yup, they do that from time to time. Some of them will not spawn out at all. It also seems as if the white crappie do it more than the backs.
