Had a chance to try a technique I've not used before on some bass at a private pond in the Boerne area. I have been tearing up the gills there but have seen quite a few nice bass in the clear water, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Decided to go with a 5" watermelon seed Zoom Worm on a 1/0 hook and 8lb. mono, rigged weightless wacky style. After the cast, I'd let it sink. Guess the fish haven't seen a bait like that before 'cause they tore it up! Even caught a few big bluegills too.

Nice

Men are like fish...If we'd learn to keep our mouth shut, we'd stay out of trouble.

Welcome to a new way of fishing. Just a heads up. People will jump all over you on here for posting pictures of fish laying on the ground and especially on concrete. It's not very good for the fish

Was that from a bank ? I always just assumed fishing wacky work style was just from boats , nice to see you can fish it from the bank . I will try it tommorow .next time pleae take a pic of your bait , I would love to see how it's rigged .

You should always put the bait you were using to catch the fish in the picture.

It tells the whole story that way.

Fish fear me> Ha Ha! No worries. Seems I got a lot to learn... don't lay the fish on the ground, show the lure I'm fishin' with. Yeah, I like looking at all the fish pics too! Actually I thought I had loaded the picture of a bluegill with the lure in its mouth but I guess I didn't. I have added that pic as well as some close-ups of the bait for Aquiles.

To Aquiles> I had heard about rigging worms wacky style for a while but hadn't really tried it before. The pond I've been fishing at has some nice bass so I figured I'd give it a try from the bank. It worked great! From the time it hit the water, I could feel fish hitting the worm. I figured they were the sunfish. Then you'd see the line moving sideways and I'd reel in the slack and set the hook. As far as working the worm I didn't really have to work it too much as it seemed they would pick it up as I just let it sink slowly.

You tube has some good tutorials on fishing wacky style. I think I'm gonna try using a shaky head worm rig next. The action looks pretty enticing. Let us know how you do fishing wacky style.

Almost forgot, I saw the technique of adding an 0-ring to your worm on you tube. When I caught these fish I did not use an o-ring and ran the hook through the worm instead. I went through a bunch of worms as they would tear through. Supposedly the o-ting saves you some wear and tear on your worms. Seems like it makes sense. We'll see next time I'm out.

I don't know what laying the fish on the ground is all about, if I catch the fish I can do what I want.

If I catch a DD fish it's going on my garage wall and that's it.

Keep posting pics any way you care to take them.

Looking at your pictures that rig worked real well for you but thats a pretty big hook to use for a wacky rig. Gamakatsu makes a smaller circle type weedless hook designed specifically for wacky rigging that works really well, you might want to try that sometime and see what you think

Thanks Cury Joe the pics are great and I really do appreciate the one of how you had your bait rigged , Ive actually seen it rigged with an O ring but still going thru the worm ): don't know what that about . I tried it today but I think the worm I was using was too stiff all I had was the zoom centipede to try and I dont think it just had the right amount of wiggle .But I did catch a nice one on my tiny bush hog .As for laying the fish on the ground thing, I always do how else can you get a good measurment ..

I just read that tourney mortality rates are 30-40 percent of the fish caught.

That should put the "don't put the fish on the ground" argument to bed once and for all.
