I just moved to Texas from Michigan. One of my favorite fish to catch and eat is Walleye. I am willing to travel a bit to find a lake with Walleye, but where is the nearest lake to the Dallas area with Walleye? Do I have to go to the Oklahoma reservoirs? I would appreciate the help.

Most likely your best bet. 1.5 hrs to Broken Bow beats a 8 hr. trip to the panhandle.

Thank you Crash. I will do some research on Broken Bow. 1.5 hours would not be too bad for a weekend trip. Now I just need to find a fishing partner to go with me.

Yankee, I live close to Broken Bow and it has a good population of Walleyes. The lake is gin clear and very deep. Best wally fishing is done at night.

PM me and I'll see if my schedule is open and I'll show you around. Waiting on a new boat right now will be about 3 weeks.

You may want to check and see if there is a guide on Lake Murray, Oklahoma, which is much closer, but may not be as Walleye populated as Broken Bow. It also has a lot more small mouth on it.

I have caught Walleye (not saugeye), and I have also SCUBA Dived this lake (not gin clear, but clear enough to dive). There are many lakes in Oklahoma where saugeye are also stocked (Thunderbird is the one that I have fished and caught saugeye,,,and they are excellent eating).

Stewart,

I see Lake Murray is closer than Broken Bow. It also looks like a nice lake. I will keep it in mind as well.

Thanks.

Bout have to go to Okla, lots of places in Southwest part of
state, including Ft Cobb, the Lawton city lakes and all between
there and Altus, including Altus. But the closest would be
Murray I believe.

What by private plane? I am not sure how fast you drive but it is close to 3 hours from Fate to Beavers Bend.

Look at the lakes up around Lawton, Ok. They are supposed to have Saugeye and or Walleye.

I caught some really nice Walleye off a boat ramp at dusk on lake Murray. I was using a chartrouse spinnerbait. There are some nice 1/2 bedroom cabins out there to.
