I'm about to buy some new sunglasses for sight fishing on the coastal flats and was wondering what color lenses are the best. I've been looking at blue mirror and amber costa del mar sunglasses. Any info would be great

I use amber Flying Fisherman - which are glass and retail in the $25 range. They are great. Red/rose lenses might even be better for murky water. Look for FF on the internet and you can get a review from celebs who use them.

Costa Eliminators in the green mirror (amber) work well for me for sightfishing. Great polarization! I also have some X-Frame Costas that are plain amber that I like. To get the most out of fishing glasses, make sure that you have some sort of sideshields to block out light. Check out the H2Optix while you're at it. They're a good value. Action Optics and Maui Jim also make good specs. ------------------ [This message has been edited by sandman2002 (edited 08-18-2002).]

Orvis has plenty of EXCELLENT polarized glasses in all lense colors. They range from $40 on up. I got the cheap ones in amber, and I love them!

I am no expert, but I believe as long as they are polarized, the color of the lens is fairly insignificant. For sight fishing, you are obviously fishing in clear water, so you just need to cut the glare.

I use an Ex-Frame Costa with the blue mirror and think they are excellent. The Ex-Frame is snug around the face so light does not get in and alse I'm able to look behind me while running the boat and not worry obout them flying off. The polarization and the blue mirror is awsome on the water. I used to wear cheap (-$50) polarized shades, till I went Costa,...never again!!

i've read that amber is best for bay fishing and gray is best for offshore. i've not tried amber, but use gray for both.
