I caught some specs last weekend and while I was cleaning them, I noticed white pulp-like ojbects in the meat of the fish. When I made an incision to see what is was, it appeared to be a worm like string attached to the pulp. I have never noticed that in fish I cleaned before, but maybe I never paid that close of attention. I have heard all fish have worms of some sort, but I was figured them to microscopic and harmless. I removed most of the pulp like worms, but is it safe to eat the meat with the worms in there? I can tell you that the meat is not all that appealing now. But maybe, I have always ate them like that and never noticed.

They don't taste like chicken
I just don't look for them anymore just clean and fry them

Some trout caught may have worms embedded in the flesh along the backbone. These "spaghetti" worms are larval stages of a tapeworm that can only reach maturity in sharks. It cannot survive in man even if it is eaten raw. The worms can easily be removed during filleting to make the meat more appealing.

Those worms will make you lose your appetite however we've been told in the past that they're harmless and we've eaten' black drum with the same "spaghetti worms" in them before.

emmm, worms. Just the name makes me loose my appetite. I think I would tend to fry those vs. baking.. Just for the piece of mind.
