And to anyone who thinks they won't get eaten, you have never been to one of my parties. :-) No Brian. As a matter of fact neither Jim nor I have ever been invited to one of your parties!

Well, I figured my events may be a bit low-browed for such distinguished gentlemen as you and Jim.

Hey guys, Joe here. I work with Chuck_W and will be joining you on the trip. Excited about going.. I've done party boats before, 12 hour trips, but nothing like this. I sent TOO an email requesting additional info on the trip, but have not gotten a response yet. I don't have any gear, though was looking into getting some tackle, and wanted to know if rod/reels would be available for use, food, etc. Also, what do I need to bring, vs. strongly consider bringing, vs. don't bother bringing. I've gotten a lot of good info from the thread already, just hoping to get a little more! Thanks for your help.

Anyone know where TOO & Grizz have disappeared to? I have sent PM's with no response. Just a FYI if it's important to get ahold of me (TOO) right away. The best way is by phone, then by email. I may not log on to the TFF for days if we're busy. PM's will get answered when I log on, but it is not as effective as phone or email. Just a heads up. TxG3D charter update; expect a TxG3D email update from T.O.O. on Thursday, early if it actually rains in south Texas.

Okay guys, What are your recommendations for motion sickness meds? I went out about 10 miles 45 years ago and got sick as a dog once we started fishing along side of the shrimp boats. By the third or so swell I was headed for the back of the boat (a 25'). I can stand in the bow of a bass rig with 3' waves all day and no problems but I do want to go prepared for the worst.

#1 Transderm Scop (scopolamine 1.5mg). This is the little patch you put behind your ear. Will last for 3 days. Just call your doctor and see if he will phone in a Rx for you to your pharmacy. You shouldn't need a doctor visit for this. I see lots of experienced fishermen wearing these.

I get sick watching my kids on a swing. I use the patch and have been out in 16' seas with no problem on the scat cat. its the only thing that works for me. But Jim is right, you should try in first. Finding out it doesn't work for you due to horrible side affects is a bad thing once you are on the boat.
They also make the same med in a pill (Scopace) that is MUCH cheaper, but you gotta keep taking it. WIth the patch you put it on the evening before you leave and take it off when in site of land. Nothing to think about. Except don't forget to put in on the night before!!
BTW, the normal side affects of this med are dry mouth and sleepiness. Neither bother me too much (I chew gum and get lots of rest between fishing spots; the fishing wakes you up plenty), but regardless they are way better than puking for three days.
I do give my kid Bonine and it works for him.

my own personal concoction is:..... sack up & don't think about it. it's 100% mental & I've proved it to people many times. some are hard to bring around.for IGS & Wilson, it took barfing in 15-20's on the Scat Cat, but now anything less & they're good to go. no joke. ask them. I would concentrate on the fishing, & eat ginger snaps. stay focused & pre-occupied & you won't have time to get sick. if that doesn't work, I'll be your shoulder to barf on
