This will be interesting! I would think that if there was a leak in the line it would be sucking air and wouldnt run right. Check under the cowl and see if fuel spews when you pump the primer bulb. Hole in the tank maybe?

is there a strong smell of gas in the bilge? run a little water in the bilge and then pull the plug, save some in a glass jar and let it set for about 15 mins gas will rise to the top.
look at the water when its running and see if there is a film of gas and oil.
is there a puddle in the lower cowl area of gas and oil?

Fuel tank sender wrong for tank? I think you would know if you have a leak that bad.

Could also be getting a false sense as to the tank being full because of a vent line having a "U" shape trapping gas in it like a "P"trap on a sink.

Not to sound condensending here but you are putting it in the right tank? I have had one custome that put 38gallons in the butt seat base plate. Then went out to the lake and ran out of gas. He just could not figure out why.. !!!!!?

yes boatman did put fuel in the right tank [ that made me laugh] needed that. hopalong did notice fuel smell in bilge only after being in rough water on grapvine had a some water in bilge area and water was off color just thought it was because of rough water conditions thinking of calling spanky.
