If you are not someone that works on your own boat then you probably don't even notice these things but I have. I'm on my 3rd boat now. Had a 95 Nitro, 06 Skeeter SX180 and now a 09 Skeeter 21i. I have to say for the price tag of these boats the fit and finish is pretty horrible.

Everything that is screwed down to the boat is just screwed directly into the fiberglass. No inserts or anything that would make screwing and unscrewing keep its threads in tack and strong. Each time you unscrew from fiberglass the fit becomes more loose each time. Rough rides, vibrations, etc will loosen these up. Whens the last time you went and checked the screws every where on your boat? Bet you have a few that could use a few turns!

Fiberglass cut outs have no sanding or some sort of rubber guard that protects you from it when working in there. These items that go in these cut outs are once again just screwed directly to the fiberglass.

Wiring. This isn't a big deal but you would think with the technology getting better that it's very common to run wires through your boat. I have found a easy way to do it but why is there not some sort of pulley system that runs around the inside edge of these boats that you can hook a wire to and pull from the other end to feed the wires?

I've never owned another boat with a big price tag but just wondering if this is the same with all boats? If you work on your boat you probably know what I mean.

Just ticks me off when you think how much these things cost new and even used and this is the finished product.

Don't get me wrong I like my boat and it's a great platform but when you start taking things apart I start wondering why they cut corners?

BassCat isn't like that on the inside. Those fiberglass splinters are a biotch. The owner of BassCat said he will give you the boat if you get a splinter in you.

That's good news right there and hopefully other companies follow. What about how things are bolted down to the boat? Wood screws directly into fiberglass? Or do they actually insert threads for BOLTS to be screwed into?

Legends are also finished everywhere you want to look or work on something!!

Fiberglass does = splinters but it can and should be avoidable.

I just checked all the screws on my boat the other day... only a few needed tightening... and it is a 90 model champion... But, on any screws I put in, I usually use some kind of adhesive or putty to make them hold better.

I know your upset, but you bought two of the same kind wth? Also a pulley system? Do you have a fish tape? Skeeter's are great boats you just need fix your issues, Silicon is your friend, and yes this is true with girls too.

lol I do not understand most of your post Toad. What do you mean I bought two of the same kind? Skeeters? Besides the fit and finish like I said I like Skeeters and I'm doubtful that other makes are that much better in these areas I mentioned. What do you mean fish tape?

Chad it(fit and finish) is one of the first things that caught my eye looking at new boats a couple years ago. No matter if it is inside a compartment,glovebox fuel-battery area,livewell it is finished well enough to avoid splinters. I have never gotten one from this boat in 4 years and I go through and check connections, fasteners clamps etc at least twice a year. You would be welcome to look it over if you want to meet up sometime. I am not in any way affiliated with the Legend company, but have been happier with them, their product and especially customer service since owning one than any previous boat by far!

Chad-I drill holes in my own boat...What I am saying is I am familiar with a Skeeter, as well as some other boats mentioned. I am saying nothing is perfect. The Legend is smooth as as far as finish with some other brands, jump in one and you will see.

The pulley system you are promoting is where I described the "fish tape" it is an electricians tool for pulling wires from point A to B, works wonders in a boat like yours for installing graphs and what not.

They all have problems, the thing I disliked most about my Skeeter and any other Skeeter is the little black screws with the black flat washer to help hold down the el cheapo plastic dashes and drop in boxes. The best thing you can do is rid your self of those screws by upsizing and using silicon on the screw when you tighten down, just don't over tighten. Just part of owning a boat.

Fish tape is a tool made to run wires in walls. They cost about 25.00 for a good one and make running wires very easy.
As far as the wiring and most work it is done before the cap is installed on the boat. Anytime I work around fiberglass I wear a long sleeve shirt.

I've never heard of that before but will look into it. You know what I use to run my wires? The cable for the hand throttle! Since I have a hot foot I have that extra cable for the hand throttle and since it's pretty firm I just push it down the side and tie my wires on and start pulling! haha works though!

I agree about those little black screws. They are not a problem on current boat but my other one it was. Like someone mentioned I do use silicon when I am putting my screws back in and I do not over tighten.

I just think the companies need to put more detail into their work. It's little things that would go a long ways in QA
