Hey yall, So after getting skunked 2 times at my usual "Thursday-evening-after-work" spot, I decided to hit Mason creek right by my apts Sunday morning. I only had 2 hours to spend, but I think it went pretty good as it was the first time Ive caught panfish on lures. I was 12 at Lake Livingston the last time Ive caught panfish and it was on nightcrawlers. Here's a photo of a Black Crappie I caught on a Red Eye Shad: [img:left] [/img] Here's a Bluegill (correct me if Im wrong) caught on Berkeley power worm: [img:left] [/img] And last but definitely not least, a 2.5 lb LMB and 1 about 2/3rds the size. Both were caught on LFT Worms (Junebug Color) [img:left] [/img] [img:left] [/img] PS Ive also caught a 3-4 lb Channel Catfish on another crankbait (Yes, you heard me right, a Catfish on a Crankbait), but I lost him trying to reel him up. Its a 5 foot drop from the bank to the water.

nice catch. That looks like a warmouth(goggle eye) not a blue gill.

I knew there was crappie in there! Nice pics man. Haven't been out to Mason Creek in awhile, partly due to my fear of snakes . The 2nd fish looks like a greenie. You can tell by the little bit of orange coloration left in the pelvic fins.

You might me surprised what you can catch fish on. I remember many years ago catching blue gills on on piece of string cut from the frayed edges of a pair of jeans wrapped around a hook, that day they wouldn't hit anything else. I got this catfish on a Cherry seed Red plastic worm at LL
You guys know everything..... I'm just an idiot....no problem........

Nice pics, I might be wrong, but I think the first pic is a white crappie...

The 2nd fish looks like a greenie. You can tell by the little bit of orange coloration left in the pelvic fins. Nice catch! You'd be very surprised at what you catch on lures. The second fish is a Green Sunfish. Orange on the lower fins is a dead give away! Biggest lure I've caught one on was a 5" Yum Dinger. The Green Sunfish was only 5" long himself! Those fish have great attitudes! They're always !!!

Thanks for yall's comments.
Hey LunkerRepellent, yes theres snakes but it doesnt seem so bad compared to Bush park. Ive actually had one swim towards one of my worms, then a LMB came underneath it to take it down but it escaped.
But I saw a weird 3-4 ft long creature emerge 30 feet away from me. I thought it was an alligator, but the head more roundish than triangish (maybe an Otter?). I tried to follow it to get a close look but it went back down to when I got about 10-15 feet away.

Hmm... not sure what kinda creature you're talking about. But I was out there today trying out a new spot and experimenting with lures for sunnies and I saw THE BIGGEST turtle I've ever seen in the wild. It was about as big around as one of those excercise balls for yoga or w/e they're used for. It was truly a monster, wish I would've gotten a pic of it. Maybe you saw a turtle like I did?

Yup, Ive seen them that size too at Bush park. The creeks in Bush park are still dried up, so I may go to Mason creek again tomorrow evening.
