I'm looking for some advice on maybe chartering a boat out of Port A to go out and fish offshore with about 6 or so buddies in August or early Sept. Before I make any calls, is it worth the extra money, or does a party boat give more bang for the buck?
Haven't been offshore here, what do you catch; snapper, grouper, amberjack, permit I assume. Should we troll or bottom fish? I know we went botttom fishing off of Destin FL, a few years back and they gave us electric reels. Feel a tug and press a button and they come up. That was pretty lame. I was disapinted that trip. Any tips would be appreciated.

How 'bout them Dawgs?

I THINK THE NAME OF THE MARINA I CHARTERED A BOAT OUT OF IN JUNE WAS DOLPHIN BAY IN PORT A. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME TO TAKE A PRIVATE CHARTER AND IT WAS MUCH BETTER IN MY OPINION THAN THE PARTY BARGE. THERE WAS 4 IN MY GROUP AND IT COST 450.00 FOR 6 OR 8 HOURS... I CANT REMEMBER EXACTLY CAUSE THE BEVERAGES WERE FLOWING... CAPT. KASEY WAS OUR GUIDE AND HE TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF US. HOPE THIS HELPS. OH YEA HE WILL ASK YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO FISH FOR AND THAT IS WHAT HE WILL PUT YOU ON.

Jim Harmon is the Capt. of the Makaira.....866-281-3478. cell 361-939-9919.

I went with him July 1....it was good, and will be better now that shrimp season is open. Nice 42 footer.
