For ponds I have caught a ton of fish on the baby brush hog however when I am fishing lakes I tend to use the standard size. When the fishings tough though you cant beat the baby.

I always use the baby brush hog. The normal one is pretty big. You can fish the baby version on a big hook with a big weight for big bass, or you can fish it on light line with a small hook. I just think the normal ones are too big.

On Fork I use standard size but on my home lake of LBJ I have rarely gotten hit with it, so I use and am pretty succesful with the baby.

i like the baby for the tough days and also for spawning flats... for spawning fish i tip the tail w/ chart. and swim it as a small bream imitation.

i like working the big ones around brush and stumps... i tend to jig it and work it a little more slowly than the baby.

ill throw the big one anytime i think the fish are active in sprin, summer and fall. but if i dont pick up bites in a bit, i will goto the baby.

I fish from the bank and gets more hits even from big fish using the baby . I love to rig it Texas style and work it thru the water grass , I alternate using both a jigging motion or a fast retrive over the top of the grass ..

as far as colors for brush hogs...

I like watermelon/red for slighty stained to clear water, watermelon candy for clear water and junebug for dirty water or low light... thats about it on colors for brush hogs for me.

oh yeah, i also like black with blue flake or black with gold flake in the baby size, i use them for spinner bait trailers and jig trailers at night, tryin to "bulk up" my nighttime presentations.

Watermelon/red is good but many times watermelon/gold will out fish it.

I also like watermelon/candy/red, watermelon/green, green pumpkin/green, green pumpkin/red, green pumpkin/purple, bama bug, red shad, tequila sunrise, plumb, and blue fleck.

Last Saturday was steadliy catching fish on the baby, pulled out a regular size same color, fished for about 45 minutes and didn't get a bump! went back to baby and finished up our bag with a 5 lber.

Watermelon and your pumpkin colors are what I like and use mostly the key IMO is a light weight so it falls real slow thats how I fish it and it works great.
