I'm headed to Washington DC next month. Uncle Sam says I'll be there at least a year. Sorry to leave TX and the angling wisdom in this forum. So, I need any fishing info and a good website or forum for the Maryland area.

Vaya con Dios, amigo. Glad we got to fish together. Let me know when you're back in Tejas and we'll do some trips again. Hunt down some Bluefins for us.

The Chesapeake is full of big stripers now until they return to the ocean. Lots of lakes within a hour or 2 drive. The Potomac, James, Patuxent and Rappahannock rivers are good fisheries also. Huge catfish in the James. Good luck to you.
Clean up...

DUDE, When it starts warming up grab a couple tubs of fresh chicken livers(YES CHICKEN LIVERS) and head east on 214 from the beltway in MD and when you get to the Patuxent River pull over and park where ever you you can safely. I always had better luck on the eastern side of the bridge. Hike your way down to the river and bait up a Carolina rig and hang on. STRIPERS my friend, and big ones too. My largest ever came from that very spot at 36". They'll start thier spawning runs up from the Chesapeake in the spring. When you get down to the river you won't think much of it but trust me, if timed right, you'll be glad. I always went during the week so as to avoid crowds. DARN, I envy you! Also, I don't remember the lake but it is a small one on the border of MD and DE, (about 1.5hrs from D.C.), just gorgeous. Definately worth the trip and a float tube paradise. I spent 5 years in Bowie MD and there are times when I really miss it. I telling you about small waters but the Potomac and Chesapeake awesome too, you just need a boat to really take advantage of them. There are a few more places that I used to fish but I haven't lived there in almost 12 years. Good Luck, and don't be a stranger to TFF, I for one would love to hear about the fishing in my old stomping grounds.

Texcajun, is the lake you are talking about Trap Pond? It is near Lauerl, DE. Also, there can be some fine bass fishing in the Nanticoke River and Broad Creek in that area.

That's not familiar Chuck, the place I remember was a few miles south of Marydel. If AkaCaster gets a map of MD he should be able to find it. But you are right about one thing, it was refered to as a pond, not a lake. All of those rivers that run off of the Chesapeake are beautiful, one of the prettiest is the Pocomoke, which is the farthest north in the country that you'll find Southern Bald Cypress trees. And did I mention fish? Loaded!

To All, Thanks for the great websites, well wishes and top choice locations. I'm not sure if ya'll fully realize the wealth of knowledge and camaraderie floating around this forum. I wish I'd had sites like the TFF at my other bases. It sure would have saved me a tackle box full of trial-n-error.
