Well this trip had been in the plans for a while now, so last week was dreadfully slow waiting for Thursday to come around. We were heading up for a weekend trip to stay at a buddies lake house, and have a friendly tournament among 4 boats, and 9 friends. My partner and I were able to sneak out a little bit before everyone else, and we were able to get a couple hours of fishing in on Thursday evening, and here is the first fish of the trip, a chunky 5lber caught on the Yellow Magic!

Didnt catch much else to write about Thursday evening, but still was good to get out and start the trip out well! Friday we had Gary Paris booked for a trip, and he came through for us. I fished with him 5-6 years ago, and after that trip, i told myself any time i was coming back to Fork, i'd be fishing with him atleast a day. He is really fun to fish with, and he is a machine out there. Anyways, we caught around 20 fish, with only 1-2 of them being under 3lbs. Here are a few pics of some of the better fish we caught!

If any one gets the chance or needs a guide on Lake Fork, I promise you will be happy if you take a trip with Gary!

Well Saturday came around, and it was tourney time! We had a pretty simple, take a picture and weigh your fish, and let em go premise for the tourney. Well my partner and i got on a good bite early saturday, before the wind start to flat our BLOW! We had about 9 fish by 9, and and had around 17lbs. We moved off and starting fishing Tx Rigs and hit paydirt. WE didnt light the world on fire, but we made them count! First fish in there was a almost 4lber. 30-40 mins after that, i hit the base of a stump and end up catching my new PB! Fish went right at 7.6, and was a long and skinny fish.

We had been talking to our friends, and knew that this fish would knock out our buddies 6.8 for Big Bass, and we felt pretty confident that it would hold up. Well it didnt last 30 mins until my partner stuck a PIG! This was his new PB and we were freaking out to say the least! Fish went 10.12 and was also, pretty skinny for her size. Post spawn fish that just looked beat up!

Needless to say, we had wrapped up both catagories, and had Bragging rights the rest of the weekend! Our best five went 29.13.
It was an awesome trip, and we really thank Gary Paris for helping us out this trip!

Stax,

Her measurements were huge! I want to look up some of SAL's measurements and compare. She was 26.5" Long and a girth of 21".

go big or go home.

I would say your scales may have been weighing her a little light. She almost certainly would have been a SAL prespawn. Congrats!!
