Holiday weekends are drastically busy. There's no way any kind of good fishing can be done. Don't forget about the traffic as well. Nothing gets my blood boiling more is to just sit in traffic and barely move an inch per mile splat I'm all for watching the honey's float down the river, but not sure if that will compensate for the lack of fishing rolfmao But I'm still game just to experience floating of the Brazos and get lay of the river for future trips. The drive there and back home will be hellish though.

Just a quick note. If fishing is a priority, make sure its a 2 nighter.

We recently did a one night trip and it left very little time for fishing. Of course, the whiskey didn't help the fishing cause either.

Yea maybe a holiday weekend isn't the best of times.

ok at least for me anytime starting in June will work for me, most weekends I could swing a over nighter easily. I i'm with ren about just getting out there and learning the river and where to fish and camp and all that good stuff. Would be sweet if we could figure out a good weekend for a 2 night trip, Ill have to look at the schedule at work to see what i can swing. Also lots of booze and stuff like that sounds just good, need to get some dry ice then smile

@Reel have you been down there recently? If so how low was the water and did you have to drag much?

My brother and I made the trip in a canoe the last week of April and the fires were out, but it did burn down to the river in places and burned off a few of the islands. The water was OK but we had to drag the canoe in a couple of places, but we take a lot when we go camping. Caught some catfish but nothing real big.

It would be nice to hit it when you don't have to drag your kayak because of lack of water flow. What does the flow need to be in order to do that?
Also, is there a site to monitor the water flow from PK down the river?

Try this site for current water flows:
Brazos River Flow

Look for the gauge at Grafford or Palo Pinto.

You need about 200 fps to avoid all dragging.
