Well after reading several posts about people getting their boats broken into and thinking that it would never happen to me, it did! I live in Rayburn Country and my father, my brother and a friend from Kansas were in town to fish Bass N Bucks. Well, Saturday morning we found out that all the rods in my boat, my brother's boat and my father's boat were stolen. 35 rod and reel combos and a hummingbird 997SI were stolen. I was told by the sheriff's deputy that he had already been to 6 other calls in Rayburn Country and Forest Hills about the same thing. They have no clue who did it and really do not show much interest in finding out who did it! Typing this just to give everybody a heads up. I live in a nice neighborhood with well lit streets and neighbors that keep an eye on everything, but there is always trash that will steal what they can! With the economy the way it is my house will be extra secure, garage extra secure, and everything protected Mr. Winchester. Sorry to rant, but everybody needs to take extra precaution and keep watch for yourselves and your neighbors.

Also - please keep an eye out for a large number of Kistler Mg and Daiwa Light N Tough rods and Shimano Chronarch Mg reels.

Please call the Jasper County Sheriff's Office if you run across someone trying to unload these items. Some are marked for easy identification.

Bill Burns

I live in a gated community and would NEVER leave my gear in the boat for easy pickens. Sorry for your loss but you can't make it easy for these slime balls.

Obviously learned that lesson the hard way this morning and consequently will be adding security at home and taking extra precautions in the future. Just trying to encourage others in the area to do the same.

Sorry to see they hit you Bill. They got me about 18 months ago at my place on T. Bend. I fish alot on Rayburn & T.Bend but it changed the way think now. I go to extreams now to protect myself and my fishing equipment. The Sheriff can't help much so we have to take precautions. I would love to see these thieves get caught. Thanks for making us aware that they are still out there.

Toddy, I feel your pain as the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. The best part, my insurance company that I had paid for over 20 years with out a claim wouldn't do anything to help me out..

Sorry bud, hopefully it works out better for you than me!

The extra precaution should have been yours and your family's. You basically gave away your things. I feel for you and the family but really...It's a sad lesson you had to teach yourself! Hope insurance helps

+1

I learned the hard way at, imagine that, Rayburn country... after endless reports of rampant theft with absolutely no recoveries of equipment I don't have much faith in the ol' sheriff's office in those parts... Just assume the worst and take the 10 minutes to unload the boat.

That sucks makes me feel better when I do leave the boat out that I take all the extra time to take everything out of my boat.

Sorry about your loss, all my guns were stolen out of my home a few years ago. None have been recovered. It amazes me how quick a lot of people turns the blame on to the victim as if it was your fault. If I were closer I could loan you enough stuff to get you by, best of luck to you.

I think he knows he learned his lesson fellas, the simple fact is no matter how bad someone wants something they will get it. I had a truck stolen out of my driveway, yes I had a hidden set of keys on the truck that they scoured through after they broke into it to find them, did I make it easy on them, yes but they paid in the end. Hopefully they will get get theirs Mr. Burns. I feel for you. Scum is Scum and there is a bunch of it everywhere.
