There are good fish to be caught in Lavon, it just takes a lot of time on the water to find them.

No sort of submerged vegetation in the lake.

Launch at East Fork or Avalon if you're in Wylie. Fish the timber in Collin Park, rip rap on the dam and bridges, points...

Never been to Purtis Creek, but Lavon is relatively shallow and has very little good depth relief.

the creek from hubbard to lavon is some of the best fishing I have done on either lake. It has hydrilla on both sides and the wake bugs just get ambushed by hungry bass in the mornings. I forget the name of the launch but its the northeast side of the lack next to the bridge. Its about a 5 min ride from launch to the creek pm me and one day I will be more than happy to meet up with you and show you where its at. Nice solid bass out of there I have never caught less then a 1lbs bass out of that side and many nice 4-6lbs.

i was in there yesterday. 10am-2pm. caught a bunch of small dinks on a shallow sqaurebill crank on the oustide of the weedlines. Blew up my motor on the way back to the ramp. made it to the golf course on the trolling motor.. then waited for a savior to come by and pull my POS POS POS boat to the ramp. My boat is at Martin Pro Outdoors now to see what's wrong. hopefully its minor, like a powerpack or fuel problem. it had gas, and it would crank with lots of throttle- but would not idle on its own.

If you like to explore and be around less boats go to Lavon , the numbers are not what Hubbard produces but the quality and size of the average is better.
