The morning started off pretty good. My first cast produced an 8" Redbreast. Many times when reeling in Redbreasts there were larger bass following them. I was only using 2# line so I got lucky the bass didn't bite. I also saw a huge gar swim by with a little gar at its side, by the time I got the camera ready it was gone. Turtles were everywhere but I didn't catch any.

When the bite slowed I moved so I caught fish consistently from 9A-12A.

All in all a great morning. Best part was catching before it really got hot and leaving Austin early enough to beat the traffic going back to Georgetown.

Great strategy getting there earlier and beating the traffic back to Georgetown. I passed over I-35 about half an hour ago and its a parking lot.

The second and last redbreasts are really fat! Those are the kind that turn in to future monsters. The ones I get at Dunlap seem to be a little more streamlined. I don't know if you are, but try fishin the bottom with worms and see if you can get one of those big redear to bite. That is the lake the state record came out of.

Those bass have now taken four sunfish in the last two months while I was reeling them in. Two of them broke me off and two I had almost reeled in when they spit them out at me. I wish I got a pic of the longears after they came out of the bass' throats. Pretty gnarly.

I saw one on the bank that looked like a bass victim. If I sit the worm too long on the bottom I'll be landing turtles most of the day. I usually drop it on bottom leave it for a minute to two then reel in and recast.

Sometime this week I hope to do some distance casting and fish a crappie rig but with #8-10 hooks @ Lady Bird for those Redear. I just don't have the experience on LBL to just get on them. I think today was the 4th time I've fished it.

Yea that's what I was trying to avoid. Plus it's Friday!

I've caught some nice sunfish from lbl, including my pb redbreast sunfish of 10in that was caught on a crankbait.

Welcome Thomas G. to the Texas Fishing Forum. Glad to have you on board. A 10 inch Redbreast in a good fish. Congrats on your PB. Lady Bird Lake has some huge Sunnies. I am going to be fishing that lake in the near future.

I need to get down that way and catch some of those nice redbreasts!

Wow that is an 8 hr round trip from Sherman. I'd be happy to lead you right to them. They were caught at the mouth of Shoal Creek and 1st St. Bridge (S) all on LBL.
