With the wind finally calming down I decided to try out the new 788ci HD DI on Ray Hubbard and go look for some hybrids for the first time. I got on the water about 4:30 and started fishing just south of the bouy's near the jetty. I caught 2 sandies and my first Hyrbid ever (3lbs 4oz) in the first 15 minutes. My wife called and when I told her what was up she said she was on the way. After picking her and our infant son up we made our way back out and caught hybrids pretty steady from 5:00pm until 8:45pm I lost track of how many fish we caught but I would guess about 30 with Hybrids outnumbering sand bass 3:1 All fish were caught on slab spoons in Chartruese or Blue/Silver.

This was the biggest fish I got a picture of 5lbs 6oz


My biggest fish of the day jumped off the scale and back into the water before I could get a photo it was 6lbs 3oz

We each broke off one a piece no telling how big they were but all in all an amazing first time hybrid fishing. Needless to say she is now totally hooked and I am sure my quiet private hobby just got a lot louder...

That is awesome! Glad you got into them. You don't always get into a mess of big hybrids on Hubbard so you both will remember this one! Nice catches....all around!

Nice work man. Hubbard has already produced more hybrids than I caught all last year. It is on this year. Congrats!

Way to go Rap Trap! From my recent posts you were at the right spot at the right time... Man the hybrids have been on this year for sure... There is nothing like a hybrid fight. My wife put down her book in the boat a few years back and wanted to start fishing. The rest if history. She can now out fish a lot of men out there!

Did you see the maroon and white Ranger next to you with the Golden Retriever? When we heard your baby crying, we thought.... NOW THAT'S COMMITMENT!! My wife and I got a kick out of you guys having your little one out there. My wife said.... "Is she breast feeding?"

I can only imagine what we must have looked like all piled into our little jon boat, I'm pretty sure that there are fish in that lake bigger than the boat we were fishing from...and yes she was indeed breastfeeding! Sad thing is that if you heard the baby cry you probably also heard my stellar parenting skills, screaming "Shut that kid up!" "Why wont he stop crying, just give him whatever he wants!" "Just ignore him and get your line back in the water!" What a night, despite the screaming baby and cramped quarters it was still some of the most fun we've had together in a while! Glad to see you guys got into them too!!!

Jacksonbean, were you in the bass boat with your wife this morning fishing off the jetty?

Great Report Rap and also Jackson. I think it is way too cool that you both got your wives out there in on the action. And Rap , She must have really wanted to come out and catch some because she brought the little one with her lol
