I would tend to think that the carp won't grow as big due to the extreme water temps in the summer. There are carp there though

Zach and some the guys used to fish Monticello in the dead of winter. I think they said they hauled constantly, and every single fish was right around 14lbs or something weird like that.

Then again, it's Zach.

I don't know if I'd completely believe that story. I fished Monticello in the dead of winter, and yes we definitely hauled; however a teen would be a pretty uncommon fish there it was hard enough to manage doubles! Definitely a fun lake while other lakes are down, but in no way would I go back to Monticello for the quality of fish Most fish were very skinny as well.

I dont normaly frequent this thread, but saw the topic. I fish the power plant lakes around san antonio and have caught several carp while fishing for other fish, all commons, 17 and 20 lbs were the two biggest with a decent number around 5-6lbs.

Saw a man cleaning one that must have weighed 30+ to make soup.

I've never fished a warm water lake for carp, but I do know they survive any many different waters. My question is when would the spawn be and would it be a specific time of year....or could it be non-cyclical....I don't know.

they are spawning right now at Decker (power plant lake)

Maybe they are used to the warm water and it takes them longer to get "randy" enough to start?

Man, I'd spawn all the dang time if I lived in a power plant lake. Problem is- When I spaw I don't stop to eat.
