Thanks for the report. I may go after some of those perch at the Brazos Center. Im in need of some good yeller cat bait.

Just fish the deep side (closest to the brazos center) with a bobber, small hook, and nightcrawler. Don't go deep, just about 3'-5' off the shore line. Might start slow, but give it time as they will start biting.

Hey guys, haven't posted on this forum board for quite a while, but just thought I'd post up a report from what I did last night between about 6:30 and 8:30.

Started off at the pond near central baptist church. Not sure if I was in the right pond though as I didn't see anything moving. This was the pond close to 30 on the northern side of central.

Moved over to the pond behind the brazos center and was throwing a chartruse/white spinner. Ended up landing about a 12-13" largemouth but she was pretty skinny. Saw lots of fish tailing around 8 to 8:30, but never landed a second one.

The pond near Central Baptist is the pond right next to a giant oil rig. It just got expanded from what I've read on here. I caught a tiny LM bass out there, but nothing else. I don't think it has been restocked.

Went to the pond behind Sams this morning around 9am. It's VERY dirty. I got two topwater hits on a spinner, and then a bite on a worm but nothing took. That pond is full of hydrilla too. There seems to be some good fish though. Lots of life.

I went to central park again also. It's quickly becoming my favorite pond to fish at within CS. Although only catfish, it's fun and you usually hook a few. I got a 12" and then a tiny guy. I had another that was decent sized but he came off the hook! Also, there was bread on the water and there is a HUGE koi in there. I saw this giant orange blob and I was wondering what the heck it was till it came up. I tried to catch it for fun, but the hook came out of its mouth twice. I just used a small hook with some bread fed onto it.

Went to the pond behind Target to catch some bluegill for cut bait and pulled out some Channel cats this morning. I saw 2 good size bass jumping on the on the far side facing the Brazos center before I left, it was very active out there this morning.

Its a goldfish and was released ohh...about 5 yrs ago...

anybody have an opinion on which is the best lm bass pond in the b/cs area? ive tried the park on holleman with no luck and im thinkin about trying that pond behind target yall were talking about. seems like the ones i have tried are fished out...

Anybody had any luck lately? Imight hit a river tomorrow morning or maybe try the pond behind Target again.

hey guys, I'm a College Station local and an Aggie. Lived here my whole life. To clear up some of the confusion, the pond behind Sams is iffy. If you do run into a cop, some of them here might give you a hard time. We used to mud back there in high school, it sucked but you could get a little mud slung up when it rained. I've known a few guys that have gotten tickets for mudding back there. As far as fishing though, its not that big of a deal. I'm good friends with a local cop, he and I fish and hunt together often. He said he would not ticket anyone for fishing. There is a pond on the access road right before you get to 2818 on highway 6. I personally have never fished it, but I have seen people fishing it often. There may be a no fishing sign up now, I cant recall.

I also used to fish Nantucket lake. They call it a lake, its just a big pond. South of town right past the new HEB. Sadly, its private. I had a couple friends that lived out there and we fished it pretty hard. Actually caught some monsters out there. 8 lb bass were not uncommon. Also ran jug lines and trot lines and fished for cats pretty hard. Turned out some nice channels, think the biggest was around 15 lbs. Stopped catching channels about a year ago. now its all just nasty mud cats and big softshell turtles. Also limited out on crappie under the little dock they have there.

Now that I finished building my boat I hit gibbons pretty often, but its really really slow out there, and isn't what it used to be.

I just moved in with my GF whose house is at the Forest Lake Subdivision. Its off Hardy Weedon Rd about 3 miles east of town. There is a big pond right in the middle of the subdivision, but its for those homeowners only, and their guests. When full, its about 22 acres. But its pretty low right now. I have not had the chance to fish it yet, but i've heard from the neighbors that some big bass are caught out of it.

I usually only post in the Fly Fishing forum, but when I saw this thread I had to join in. I just moved back to B/CS, been gone 2yrs and just drove by my normal spots (all have been discussed here). The Central Church pond was not roped off like it is now anyone know why? I have also scoped out a few new spots wanted to get some input from everyone.

1) 3 ponds in Castle Gate (Off Victoria, 2 near entrance)
2) 2 ponds off Woodcreek Dr (near Rock Prairie on the east side)
3) The Little Brazos (Highway 21 before the Brazos Bridge)

Also, little side note, the two ponds in Research Park close to the corner of 60 and Technology Rd are open for fishing. I spoke with a TPWD Ranger one Sunday afternoon and he explained the only ponds not allowed are the larger ones with the clearly marked signs. His reason for the signs was to protect walkers/runners from flying hooks since they paths are so close to the water. Sounds like a terrible reason if you ask me.
