they look like cheap versions of

Sage Largemouth series
TFO Mini Mag
Ross FlyStick
Redington Predator
Loomis Shorestalker, etc, etc, etc, etc

http://www.basspro.com/Heat-Fly-Rods/product/10210103/-1757403 (they are out of stock)

probably decent quality if you like that type of rod (I do for certain occasions)

Marketing Fail.

That is one awkward looking rod.

If you are gonna bet your [censored] on a flyrod in a Bass Tourney, spring for the the Sage and get the Sage Bass taper line with it...otherwise, just stay home... violin

Besides, they are out of stock on almost all sizes...Sage only makes on size LMB rod.

I'd be interested to play with one. You never know on these deals until you cast it. It might match up perfectly with someone's casting style.

I do find it strange that it doesn't describe what the rod is made from, although I assume it's graphite.

The bass tourney legal thing drives me nuts. I doubt seriously that any of the BOOYAH! crowd is going to pick up the ol' whippy stick. My Mini Mag is a full 8 footer, so I suppose I'm DQ'd from the get go.

Oh well, at least that maniac who strapped a fly reel on a bait casting rod doesn't post here much anymore... smile

I guess I could buy it and be the first to write em a review. Not! The mini-mag or predator are much more likely to get bought.

Not interested in bass tournaments in the least, just wanting a little shorter 8 or 9 weight.

David, do you stock the TFO Mini-Mag, and have you compared performance to the Sage Largemouth?
They do not have them as yet in the Allen store but do have the Sage Largemouth.
First one I had ever seen - nice! They told me I could cast it sometime so I will go back and give it a try.
I have heard that the Sage Bass taper line has a 20 foot belly - is this true, and does it limit casting distance?

N.E. Texas 2 acre and 1/4 acre ponds.

Dusty, you made me get out my 6-8 and 8-10 Mini-Mags to measure - both measured 7ft - 10 1/4 inches - not that I intend to do any tournament fishing however grin...

Oh come on, George, you and me vs. the baitcasters. They'd be quaking in their boots. smile

As long as the goal was fun we'd wipe the floor with'em. smile

It's a good thing I know how much that Predator has grown on you or I'd be worried. smile

the sage has a slower action than mini-mag (or at least than dusty's mini-mag) the tfo has a more lively feel & is easier to cast, but it is also much heavier than the sage (which does come into play after casting 8 hours)...the sage is much stiffer & has lot of backbone despite its light weight, if i had to have one fly rod to pull a bass out of hydrilla it would be the sage lmb. The length thing is nutty, these rods are very accurate at short distance and they will all throw huge flies, that is their forte`, the tourny thing is marketing hype (fly rods are prohibited by name NOT LENGTH in B.A.S.S. and FLW pro tournaments)

George,

Cabela's does not stock the Mini-Mag. We carry 9 TFO rods, but not the entire line. Allen will NOT have the MM, but we both carry the Sage Bass rods. I find it strange we show the Deer Creek rods in the Catalogue (Internet). Oh well...sigh. noidea confused
