I have always preached hydraulic is more dependable than gear driven, belt driven, servo motors, chain, etc. ect...
Well, I was just watching Deadliest Catch and it just dawned on me.
What do the crab boats use to power ALL their mechanical stuff on their boats that have to hold up to the brutalist conditions on Earth?
HYDRAULIC
PROVEN TECHNOLOGY.
Features "Bullcrap Technology" as seen on TV!

ahhh they follow about 8 boats or so a year and at least one of them end up with some hydraulic problems per season.....
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

in the oilfield the electric drive stuff seems to have less issues than the hydraulic, at least in my experiences.
if i get one it will be the talon, will be easier for me to make it all quick release for my boat.

Power-Pole 100%
Get on YouTube and look at the stopping distance comparison, not even close!
Try getting into a garage with a Talon, or a low bridge? Culvert? Under a walk way? Not happening! With a Power-Pole you just hit a button, lower it down and go right under!
Power-Poles have wireless remotes and Toggle switches for console and bow. Talon dosent.. So you have to keep your remotes on you or close buy to operate them...
A Power-Pole has a small pump.. I have installed more than 100 on every size, make and model with 0 problems and 100% out of the owners way.
The Power-Poles deploy with a slight outward angle to give more coverage in return keeping your boat stationary in even the harshest wind or current. The Talons go straight down and stay very close together in return are not very stable. (stand with your legs close together and have someone push you, you will fall or loose balance. Spread em and no one is going to move you)
Price is better since the Talon is made from anodized aluminum like the Power-Poles lowest grade pole which retails for 995.00. Add remotes and you are at 1250ish, which is cheaper than the Talon.
Let's see the Power-Pole has been around alot longer with 0 problems, the Talon 6-8 months with 2 major problems thus far, and since it's a cable driven system there will be more.
The Power-Poles in the Signature and Pro are powder coated and are fantastic about being durable in stumps and clean very easy.
Power-Poles are availible in upto 5 colors, Talons are all silver except the motor case at the top, you get black or white..
The Talon also us top heavy because that's were the motor is, in return make them viberate and shake very badly. Walk up to one and give it a slight push or tap, it will shake for upto a minute.
All in all I'm a Power-Pole fan 100%! these are all facts and are just a comparison from what I have seen. Hope this helps make your decisions easier.

Did we seriously start a debate about Talon vs Power poll based off the heavy equipment used on Crab Boats?
I guess next time I will start it based off the fact that if hydraulics fail on landing gear on airplanes and we have to use a manual GEAR drive to get the wheels down. Couldn't resist.
Just saying.
LOVE my TALON. Just thought I would throw that in there as well.

I just put on 2 Pwr/Poles sig. series. Can wait to try them out. 2 of my buddies went with Talons and they haven't had any problems and they both like them.
