Anyone ever enter this tournament?
What prizes do they give away? How many people enter this each year?

I am fishing it again this year. they give out trophies, but you can win money if you enter the calcuttas . I think it is a very well organized, fun tournament. for the entry fee, they feed you 3 times.. munchies at the capts meeting, dinner friday and Saturday night.( I think there was an open bar too) As far as number of people there are usually 50-75boats with 3-6 people on board.. There may be a few less since the SKA guys arent fishing it this year. This will be the 4th or 5th time to fish it and it is always fun..

So for $75 per person all you can win is a trophy?
Seems expensive. 4 people per boat is $300 per boat, that's $15,000 to 25,000 they make...
It must be a good organization for people to pay that entry fee.
Or 2 REALLY good meals they give you LOL Is it lobster?

I read that site. But they do not mention prizes. They have a sponsors page but do not say what the sponsors role is.
Thanks for the info

All of the money is won in the calcuttas. The DSR benefits the PA boatmens scholarship fund.. A good portion of the graduates of Port Aransas HS lack the financial support to attend college and the boatmen do a great job at supporting the local kids. I am not affiliated... but lived in the area growing up..(Now I dont know what percentage of their take goes to the fund) But with my crew, that $75 entry ($95 if you enter after today)gets used up pretty quick at the open bar.. Look at it this way, if you were to buy a dinner meal and drinks for three nights in Port A, you would spend well over $100 ea. I only enter the calcuttas that I think I can do well in.. I havent won anything yet, but one of these days..... Hope to see you there.
