Seems most things are confused this year, fish and fishermen. I think the high winds have caused an unusual amount of sediment to be continually stirred up and fish are not wanting to lay eggs where silt will cover them in just a few hours. I notice the water clears up quite a bit overnight when the wind does settle down. A lot of silt will settle in 12 hours and I believe the eggs need about 24-36 hrs to hatch. Hence, with water temps finally getting warmer, they are spawning deeper. Of course, I have absolutely no proof of this theory.
