From TPWD \ Spawning begins in the spring when water temperatures reach approximately 70F, and may continue into the summer. During spawning, one or more females are accompanied by several males

It will last another 10-14 days. Right now it is happening all over the lake, in the next few days it will taper off on the north ends and by 10+ days it will be sporadic.
With the lake coming up it will be going strong for the next few days, perfect conditions for the spawn as long as they don't start letting water out for some crazy reason.

Threadfin Shad spawn anywhere they can find a place that their eggs can attach to, usually along the bank in shallow water...gravel banks, grassy banks, rocks, brush, tires, debris, boat docks, just about anywhere

Shad may pull off as many as THREE spawns after the water reaches 70 degrees and throughout the summer -- they spawn along rocky gravels shore, in weeds, on wood and just about anywhere they can find stuff to adhere eggs to --
The more junk in the water the better

Spawn on Belton usually peaks about now. I've seen it as early as the last week in March and as late as the second week in June. Being north I'd say a week from now should be prime on LL.

Thanks! Next question; How much does wind direction affect their location for the spawn? I was out Saturday AM on Pilot Knoll (South wind)Shad everywhere as were the Sandies. Went back a few hours later (wind shifted from the North) not a Shad or Sandie anywhere. Thoughts?
