spot on, I have dealings with both, and will never again with lowrance. Had humminbird send me a new transducer yest. and I waited a whole 20 seconds for someone who promptly said no problem we will send you a new one- very easy

terrenceb....it's funny you done that, because I done exactly the same thing about 2 weeks ago. I did not call H'bird, just Lowrance when I finally decided to purchase the HDS-8 over the 998. Lowrance had very quick response. My new unit comes this week and I have no doubt that I've purchased the better of the two units.

Yep, I'm looking forward to it. I just bought this boat in January and have been riding around since then without knowing how deep the water is(no graphs), kinda raises the pucker factor to a new level. I didn't have anything high tech on my previous boat so this is going to be very nice.
