do you not understand that they had massive tonados and devestation in that area? I would be more worried about warranty repair times, costs of warranty, the way the company stands behind thier product out of warranty.... I think you are not being wise in your approach given the circumstances with the weather disasters. spot on, I have dealings with both, and will never again with lowrance. Had humminbird send me a new transducer yest. and I waited a whole 20 seconds for someone who promptly said no problem we will send you a new one- very easy

terrenceb....it's funny you done that, because I done exactly the same thing about 2 weeks ago. I did not call H'bird, just Lowrance when I finally decided to purchase the HDS-8 over the 998. Lowrance had very quick response. My new unit comes this week and I have no doubt that I've purchased the better of the two units.
Good luck with your purchases.

Yep, I'm looking forward to it. I just bought this boat in January and have been riding around since then without knowing how deep the water is(no graphs), kinda raises the pucker factor to a new level. I didn't have anything high tech on my previous boat so this is going to be very nice.

Ok, just wanted to make sure my results weren't affected by a natural disaster over 200 miles away. Just called Humminbird back and waited another 20 minutes to ask them if the recent tragedies had an effect on their ability to take customer service phone calls and the response was "None whatsoever." So, as I stated above the tornadoes were nowhere close enough to impact the results of my experience with Humminbirds customer service. Just thought the air should be cleared of mis-information. Someones pannies in a wad???
