I took a fly rod casting class at Bass Pro Shop. I think it was free. In two hours, I had the casting part down - catching is another story.

I already know how to do basic casting. But it can be improved, and I can learn new casting techniques.

Went to a pond Saturday to practice throwing a Texas rigged worm. What a difference a pond with plenty of fish makes!

I hear the pros talk about the fishing hitting it on the fall and I actually experienced it.

Next time I'm out there, I'm going to force my self to use a jig...

In no particular order:

1. Fly fishing - never done it, would love to learn it
2. Casting with a baitcast reel - no matter what I do it always ends up with a bird's nest in the reel and I go back to my spinning reel.
3. Knowing what types of retrieves to use with various artificial lures in various conditions

Everyone has to believe in something - I believe I'll go fishing!

It took me about a month to cast a baitcaster. Now I'm hooked (no pun intended). I bought a pack of rubber casting weight and practiced in the back yard. The dogs got a big kick out of watching me retrieve the rubber weight.

I'm still no expert and still working on flipping but I love my bait caster.
