I just moved to north texas area and wanted to learn how to catfish and with a added twist it will be out of my kayak. I am a very active bass and crappie angler along with tons of salt water fishing and now I want to try my hand at cat fishing. I did some basic research online but I rather go to the guys that do it all the time and have great first hand experience. I have the basic bass and cappie poles and gear, bait casters and spinners along with tons of tackle and gear and my kayak. I have tried just randomly with a treble hook ans chicken livrs soaked in garlic salt but no luck there. So any hint, ideas, techniques or anything would be helpful. Always wanted to have a big cat pull my kayak through the water on a little site seeing tour of the lake . Thanks in advance for any info or if anybody is in the witchita falls/lake arrowhead area can point me towards a decent beginners spot that would be incredible.

Right now id find a windblown rocky bank, and id throw cut shad or whole small shad about 3ft below a cork. Those livers should work too

get you a 3 way swivel, 65lb leader line, 25 lb main line both trileing big game, 2-4 oz. bank sinkers or no roll weights, 7# gamagitsu circle hooks. that should be good enough for the rig. next get you some fresh shad, perch or cut shad and go out fishing some shallow waters maybe hit some spots next to some creek channels with the yak too! good luck buddie!

Oh darn means I need to fish more think I can handle that might need to get me a cast net soon too. Thankfully I know how to throw one due to ocean fishing.
