The fishing has been great at cooper lake this last week. The hybirds and sandbass are all over the main lake humps. I had the best day I have ever had on cooper this last week. We have been catching the whites and hybirds on a 4in chartruse sparkle sassy shad with a 1/2oz bullet head from Moestackleshop.com. I am finding the hybirds and whites as shallow as they can get on the humps. All we are doing is casting the sassy out and reeling it in keeping it off the bottom. Retreave speed depends on depth of water. Here is a video I put together this week before the wind and rain hit sun.<embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf" flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvid974.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fae223%2Ftawakonifishing%2Fcooperlakehybirds.mp4">

Nice. Looks like it is going to get some needed rain.
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I am fishing main lake humps right now. As for them bitting in the middle of may I think the bite will last, they may not be as shallow as they are right now.

Thanks Tony, I think I know where they will be in May, also try a 1/8 OZ Red Jig Head with a 3" White Grub curly tail,That will catch most anything as well!~!let it sink to the depth you like or reel it in shallow, I appreciate all your Info and help! Bend them Rods!!

I was on cooper today and it did come up at least a foot. The fish are still on the same pattern as before the rain. The water is clearer after the rise tham before. If anything they moved a little deeper (4-5ft)

Tony how hard is it to get out of the cove at South Sulphur right now. Last time I was there was in January and you had to stay in the channel just to get out, if you got out of the channel at all you would run aground. I hope these rains have raised the lake level some, Cooper is one of my favorite summertime lakes.

cathog you still need to stay in the channel leaving the south sulphur park. The lake came up at least a foot or more with the last rain.

Gary Im not exactly sure but im betting even after the rains that ramp/cove is probally about the same as January if not a little worse. According to the website the lake has come up about 9 inches so far this time.7 1/2 ft low right now.

So what is the best to launch from now to get on some fish? I have been wanting to try Cooper for a while now.
