I fish power plant lakes a bunch. Just returned from Coleto Creek and have a white residue stain at the water line on my Merc. Anyone know what this is and how to get it off? It does not just wipe off.

I just got thru using CLR and it worked like a champ. As I was wiping it on the scale or stain just dissolved. Must be some high level calcium in the water.

that's exactly what it is. when the lower unit gets hot from running. the "stuff" in the water bakes to the gear case.
